CADReader is a fast, lightweight, and cross-platform 2D drawing viewer and editor used to access, review, and measure technical drawings without an expensive AutoCAD license. The application is compatible with Windows, Mac, Android, and iOS, featuring a small installation package of only about 40 MB. It natively supports standard DWG, DXF, and PDF formats. Supported File Formats
DWG / DXF: Full compatibility with AutoCAD drawing versions.
PDF: Available for viewing and conversion in newer versions of the app.
Compressed Files: To view .zip or .rar drawing packages, you must extract or unzip them in your file explorer before opening them in CADReader. How to Open and View a CAD File On Desktop (Windows / Mac)
You can open a drawing using two simple methods on your computer:
From inside the app: Launch CADReader, click the Open button in the top left corner, browse your storage, select the drawing file, and open it.
From your file manager: Locate your DWG or DXF file, right-click it, select Open with, and choose CAD Reader.
The app features a multi-tab system, allowing you to open and view multiple drawings simultaneously while keeping a history of up to 20 recent files for quick access. It also comes with built-in font support, automatically displaying special engineering symbols like rebar without requiring extra font downloads. On Mobile (Android / iOS)
Due to occasional system privacy restrictions preventing direct storage access, the most reliable way to open mobile drawings is through your file manager: Open your phone’s Files or File Manager app. Locate the target DWG, DXF, or PDF file. Tap the file, select Open with, and pick CAD Reader.
For messaging apps (e.g., WhatsApp): Tap to download the attachment, tap it again, and select CAD Reader to view it immediately. Core Tools for Reviewing Drawings
